Aaaaaand the answer is, No. Samford isn’t getting an invite, didn’t get an invite, after Tenn S. wasn’t going to get on invite unless they were the #1 seed in the SoCon tournament. Whoever in the basketball program it was telling fans that we were in was intoxicated. We had a weak non conference schedule and disappointing results. We lost in the first round of the SoCon tournament. If you didn’t read the handwriting on the wall, you may be too close to the program to be objective. 18 d1 wins with only 4 wins against teams with a Net sub 225, isn't going to get you any at large consideration for any non-pay for play tourney. Kudos to the coaches and kids on a great conference regular season. Let's have a good offseason, and please don't schedule a combined 7 games against non-D1/SWAC/MEAC schools again.

Smurf is okay with Asheville since he can make it from his house in north central North Carolina to downtown Asheville in three hours.
Bojangles Arena in Charlotte might one day work, but the Big South has that site secured and it is also farther away from the Birmingham peeps than Asheville is. It isn't much younger than SU DOG too so there is that.
Closer to the western front, Huntsville might be an option. That brings in Birmingham, Chattanooga and ETSU into the fold. 77SU would love that.
Well, Huntsville is off the list for a couple of years at least. www.al.com/news/2023/04/conference-usa-basketball-tournaments-coming-to-huntsville-ncaa-tournament-berths-on-the-line.htmlMaybe if the locals make a good impression they could attract some attention from the SoCon for future consideration.

Btw sounds like we are not losing anyone else to the portal. Hope to hear some names soon if transfer targets. Guessing mid majors have to wait to see who the big boys are not going to offer first.

Good to hear about no more departures. UTC, Furman and WCU all hit on some good looking transfers last weekend. WCU, yes WCU, is looking like a very dangerous team next season, ATM.

We signed how many in the early signing period? I saw one, PG from some prep school. I haven’t seen anything official on any transfers.

Looks good. I only saw one announced on twitter. Any word on the transfers. I’m hearing some rumors that some who we thought were in the fold, are not.

Last week was the first week transfers could take official visits, so it's a bit early. But it does appear that we didn't have anyone locked and loaded early to join. Desperately need an experienced big and experienced PG to come in and play early. Off ball guard wouldn't hurt either.

Most likely this will change, but right now this would be your starting lineup.
PG- Holloway SG- Campbell SF- Staton-McCray PF- Marshall C- Achor
In terms of 3 FG%, we lost our top four three point shooters. Finding a solid two guard and/or a veteran big who can shoot from deep his is a huge area of need.

Portal looking for a point guard and a center/ power forward, the Dye roll. Archor is foul prone so that is a spot we really need.
