Thew word on the street is that the ACC is expected to follow suite. This would mean our game with FSU would be cancelled.

I'm Leaving my yes for now but am feeling a bit nervous about it. Ivy league has always given football the short end of the stick athletically and Patriot league is non scholarship. It will be when one of the more important scholarship leagues throws in the towel that I will say it's over. I think seeing how NBA and Baseball go as they reopen are going to factor in as well as the trend in terms of sickness.
Also as the poll originator, I may consider adding a yes, but in the Spring option if things continue on trend. Thoughts on that are welcome.

I'd welcome spring football if it becomes the only option, but I hope we play a full fall schedule.

I think seeing how NBA and Baseball go as they reopen . . . . The NBA, aka the Chinese basketball association, can start and end their season in Wuhan and eat rabid bats for all I care. Pro sports crapped in their own beds (like Johnny Depp, apparently) and they can sleep in it. I hope they go bankrupt and they take ESPN down with it.
I think you are about to see a societal reset on the importance of games/sports. Sports were the last thing we did as a society together, regardless of race, politics, religion. It unified us, even if for brief periods of time. Identity politics have finally wormed their way into the games we used to watch together and now you can't tune in or turn up without having ideology shoved down your throat or having to pick a side based upon something other than the color of the uniform, visitor or away. We used to gravitate to sport to escape "that." Now, that it is what it is.

I'm sure the SoCon won't do anything until they see what the ACC and SEC will do, which will effect most of the SoCon money games.

I think it's important to remember those FBS don't even balance the football budget at FCS schools. Helps, yes, but it's still a money loser. Point being FCS schools save money by not playing football. There will not be a FCS season.

That would be maybe a $350,000-$500,000 hit if FBC School X is unable to play a scheduled game against an SEC/ACC opponent. Certainly the gate will be way down across the board and that doesn't take into account most expenses such as coaching staff salaries, game day operational costs, etc. will still exist. Some FCS schools may be willing to absorb such a hard hit. Some may not. And of course this is just the money side. Addressing the health issues for the football players and the social distancing that would be required throughout a stadium is another issue. A school is going to have to possess a strong commitment to fielding a team this year, in the midst of these huge obstacles, to make it happen. It might be different if you are a North Dakota State or a James Madison, but those are the exception and not the rule at our level. The FCS filed is littered with schools with fairly minimal general public interest even before COVID came around. Financial and health concerns will probably be enough to tip the scales to a convincing "no" for most schools.

In our case, if no F$U game, then $450K is at stake. Heard last night that our AD was either on a morning radio show or quoted on the show yesterday, that without the check, the department would be looking at a $450K loss. Maybe someone out there can provide the details of which radio station and which show.
