It isn’t dependent on the weather. There is nothing finer than sitting in the stands on a sunny fall afternoon to watch football, but with the highs come the lows. Anyway, you may not experience the highs of a perfect fall day in an outdoor stadium, but generally speaking the games will go on no matter the weather and will not be delayed by lightening. If the roads are passable and there isn’t a winter tornado, you can count on the gym being dry and the temp at room temperature every time out.

And the worst thing about basketball at our level is that you can have a wonderful season, win your conference and still feel like you haven't accomplished much because you had one bad day in the tournament.

And the worst thing about basketball at our level is that you can have a wonderful season, win your conference and still feel like you haven't accomplished much because you had one bad day in the tournament. Classic example: Steph Curry was a senior (2009) and Davidson was 18-2 in the SoCon (12 teams) and was expected to win the SoCon tourney. They were upset in the semi-finals by Charleston who was 15-5 in the conference. Charleston lost in the final to 11-9 UTC. One bid SoCon then sent the Mocs to the NCAAs where they were "edged out" by the UConn Huskies 103-47.

SU DOG is exactly right. At our level, you prove yourself over two months, have one bad game, and that is all she wrote. Your reward for winning the entire season is a trophy, favorable seeding, and a trip to a so called "neutral site" in a tournament where you once again have to prove yourself and win three more games.
The counter argument is that sending the hottest team to the NCAAs might be in the league's best interest, but ten times out of ten I would take the team that is proven itself over a large sample size over a team that just happened to be hot over the course of a weekend. The law of averages matters.

This is why the NCAA field needs expanding to 128. Play the first round on Thursday thru Sunday of first weekend. It would make a ton of money. This would also benefit fans to make travel plans for week two in round of 64. Why are we locked at 68 teams?

I would rather see them award the regular season champ and have everyone send their best representative. Not just a fluke team

9 teams a year, every year, like the idea of the tournament champion advancing. Only the regular season champ likes the idea of the regular season champ going. Life isn’t fair. Rarely does this affect us. We have liked the idea of just needing to win in 3 days in March.

Btw speaking of football weather. I was at this game. It was just miserable walking up to the club section. Coldest game I have ever been to.

By any chance, was this same weekend that Samford was playing Youngstown State in the national DI-AA semifinals?
