Let’s hope this time it’s the best of times and the last game was the worst of times. A Tale of Two Arenas.
FU came out and played like a well oiled machine against UTC. When they have done that in the past, they follow it up with a loss to Mercer (that was quite funny, until we lost to Mercer) or the likes. We, on the other hand, put together 4 great games before we have a let down. All teams have a let down. It is only natural. We are where we are because our team has been able to play at a high standard for longer duration than FU has. Do I think we are materially more talented than the rest of the league? No.
I like us to bounce back and FU to not play as well as they did against UTC. They seem to get up for us, however. They are like our little brother trying to prove to themselves that they can be like us.
As for UTC, they may have lost their PG to an ankle injury. Bad time to do it. We’ll see if he’s back, but if not that’s a huge blow to UTC’s chances.
And, finally, speaking of teams I don’t want to play in the conference tournament, I’d much prefer to avoid Mercer, Furman, and Wofford in the first two games. I’m happy to play anyone in the championship game, but those three teams scare me in the a quarter and semi finals. Those would be games that I just want to win by any margin—ugly or pretty, just out score those SOBs.
PS: Did anyone notice that Samford did not take any cheap shots against Mercer, even though Mercer was dishing them out early and often? And, unlike a frustrated WCU, we took our loss without resorting to thuggery, which might explain why we are two games up on the rest of the field.

As fans, we think that every loss is a bad loss. What I'm about to say will probably not be accepted well here. Sure, it would be nice to win them all, but the suffering of a loss at certain times can be a valuable asset. It sometimes humbles a team for the future, and they don't want to have that feeling that they remember again. I speak from experience here. I once took my high school team to the state playoffs after having a perfect undefeated season and being ranked #1 in Alabama. We lost in the first round 69-68. I've always thought that if I had scheduled a little tougher and we had a loss or two that we would have played better. Another year we went 27-4 and played much better in the Playoffs.
Can this be applied to the Dogs chances this season? Hopefully so but unfortunately losing can also get contagious and that certainly is possible. We shall see.
GO DOGS!!!!!

FU fans coming over here trying to keep up with the Joneses. They can adopt our baseball team this spring since they are too damn cheap to have one. Do they have softball? I bet they kill at men’s slow pitch softball. I hear they have a decent red rover team too, although they lost to Mercer again.

Speaking of red rover, FUB’s right arm isn’t bigger than his left because he plays a lot of red rover.

I think your team’s abysmal record and prior posts turned you long before that post.
