It was tough, but 3 home runs pulled us through 9-6. Michael was not the dominator that he usually is. This is a very good ETSU Team who can really hit and they also have some good arms. We will need some pitchers to step up if we are to win this series. Our bats are still getting the job done, but starting pitching needs to have somebody besides Ross with a good ERA.

You and 03 and the old “have to play better” after we win comments. Baseball wins again today. Maybe ETSU needs to play better. A lot better. We are 8-0 in the SoCon and have a win over top 10 UK. We are about to crack the under 70 baseball equivalent of RPI. Coach David has left me asking, who was out past coach that went to UAB? Times they be tough on south side. At least they have a quality S&C coach.

Maybe 03 and I actually watch the games rather than just look at the score.

And what did I say about the starting pitching? Today our starter went 2.2 innings, gave up 6 hits, three earned runs, walked two and threw one wild pitch. Point made?

So, you are saying our starting pitching did not play better and yet we still won. You prove my point. We played good enough to win game 1 and game 2, without any apparent improvement in the starting pitching. If we plan to win the national championship, we need to play better then, but for SoCon play we are just fine.

Cujo I sure hope you are right. The old saying, however, is that good pitching beats good hitting. My thought is that Coach David will figure it out. IMO, he is doing a great job, and he has a pretty good group of relievers to work with. Those pitchers were a huge factor in our beating Kentucky and in winning these first two games vs ETSU. Starting pitching is just the last piece of the puzzle to have a really strong team that can possibly reach the lofty goals that coach has set for this team.

Just checked both softball and baseball. We opted for the no-offense, no-defense approach to start both games. Not pretty at all.
Softball has battled back and game tied 5-5 in the middle of the sixth.

Can you be mercy-ruled in the first inning? lol.

Yeah, at the end of 5, it's 9-10. Not giving up.
Softball lost 6-7. Just didn't get enough back after the 1st inning.
