We were RPI 33 before beating #17 Auburn and before Alabama upset Clemson. We are in the final 32, so that RPI ranking is justified. I’d be curious what the RPI will be before St. John’s/Brown.
Also this snafu from the official Samford site: “ This marks the first-time in program history that the Bulldogs have captured an outright win in the NCAA Tournament to advance to the Second Round.”
The author obviously didn’t do his/her homework and note our win over Vandy. Maybe he/she is getting hung up on winning in OT v. winning in regular time, but that’s not what it says. An outright win is a win, OT or no OT.

In 2005, Yelton’s squad advanced past 19th-ranked Vanderbilt in the opening round of the NCAA Tournament and became the
first Ohio Valley Conference team to reach the second round of the postseason competition.

By rule, there is not a winner, the team with the most penalty kicks advances. So the statement will put to bed the possible claim by other less successful soccer teams that we have not had an NCAA Tournament win.
