My biggest disagreement is that Kourtlan Marsh was picked over Fred Flavors as 1st team DB. Marsh was very valuable and no disrespect for him, but the stats are not even close. Yeah, Flavors had his trouble in trying to guard the big WR Ty James from Mercer, but again just look at what he did otherwise. Second on the team's secondary behind only Isaiah Richardson with 53 tackles, had by far the most pass breakups on the team with 18, and was credited with 2 blocked kicks. I'm really glad that Fred Flavors is back for this season.

The media and the SoCon love Furman. It looks to be a four team race again this year. Re Wofford, anyone remember when they were good and we beat them. Now they suck and we still beat them. I guess it doesn’t matter to us, we just beat them.

There is support for picking Furman to win the league. They return 18 starters from a team that finished 10-3. I get it.
I would also have gotten it had we been picked to win the league. We return a slew of offensive talent and the best FCS QB in the nation on a team that finished 11-2.
The bottom line is that I think you can flip a coin between these two in terms of picking which team would be favored to win the league. I think this is evidenced by the fact that only one vote separated us from Furman in the coaches poll.
In terms of sheer point value, the coaches poll looks to be more realistic to me with a drop off from FU and SU and then another drop off from Chattanooga (fourth) to WCU (fifth).
