But who votes? The difference in your analogy is that the tennis player never set foot on the football field. The long snapper is on the O line, did play on the field and apparently did so in impressive fashion. Enough to impress the voters. His (SUD’s) point is, this short fat guy at Furman hasn’t set foot on a SoCon football field and he’s honored for . . . not setting foot on a SoCon football field.
Your entire analogy and argument fall apart on the simple basis that all of your examples do not include anyone who actually played on a football field. Your hyperbole defeats your argument.

And this choice of DL is totally disrespectful of Xavier Stephens. Do we even know that Cook will be the starter? Both choices should be considered ridiculous and maybe I would concede that one is about as bad as the other. Yes - disrespectful to Xavier Stephens from Furman, AND to Chris Hill, Jordan Swain, and possibly Christian Hanson from Mercer, possibly Quay Wiggles from Chattanooga, and to Chris Morgan, Marlon Alexander, and Jaquarius Guinn from WCU …. and FUBeAR would imagine to at least one Player each from ETSU, CIT, Woffy, and VMI that FUBeAR did not take the time to research. Samford’s only returning DL Starter was named to the 1st Team. But that’s it. He plays Defensive Line. He has college Defensive Line stats. He has College Defensive Line video. It’s not a travesty that he was selected. It’s not a slap in the face to every Player playing the position. It’s not good. Shouldn’t have happened. The 2015 selection of the Samford Long Snapper as an All SoCon Offensive Lineman should have met the same fate as the White Hat in the 2022 Samford @ Furman Officiating travesty. And in that case, there should have been (and could have been) a ‘do over’ adding another REAL Offensive Lineman to those selected AND added a Long Snapper position if that’s what it took to make everybody feel all KumBayah. As it was left a travesty, it remains a travesty; a slap in the face to all Offensive Linemen, and a black mark on the SoCon.

Hey, I think I see what is happening here. We are both taking this too personal. You as an old former O-Lineman and me as an old former HS defensive line coach. LOL! FUBeAR Played and Coached D-Line too. But your assessment is correct. It’s even more personal than that. Surprised you haven’t caught on to why it’s so personal. But…even if it weren’t, FUBeAR would feel exactly the same way. He just wouldn’t take the time to type 10,000 words about it.

Wrong dog-breath. Kickers, Punters, and Holders, like RB’s and QB’s, line up in the Backfield on Scrimmage kicks - SCRIMMAGE PLAYS …. JUST LIKE PUNTS Should Kicking Specialists, Punters, and/or Holders be named as All SoCon Running Backs or Quarterbacks because they are reliable Kickers, and have played 3 years, and are really fine young men? Of course not. They aren’t RB’s or QB’s…now are they? And a Long Snapper is not an Offensive Lineman. “Coaches” selected that 2015 Team - Unfortunately, these things are conducted akin to horse trading and can be done by the Coach, the SID, or the DFO (which sux), but that ‘deal’ should not have been allowed to happen and should not have stood when it did. We needed a Judge MaryEllen to call BS on whatever deal allowed a Long Snapper to be called an Offensive Lineman. There were no ‘impressed voters.’ There were “horses traded.” If Aaron Donald had a year of eligibility, signed with Furman, and was ruled eligible, would it be worse for him to be named an Preseason All SoCon DLman or for Samford’s returning starting Holder (who is also a fine back-up Punter and really a great kid, but NOT a QB) to be named Preseason All SoCon QB?

But the snapper by definition is on the line, not in the back field (tell me the last time a snapper went in motion, ever). Why do you keep making up hypotheticals and analogies that are not analogous? Oh wait, I see—because you are wrong.
He’s a lineman, not a qb. He may play on special teams, but he is on the line, he snaps the ball, he blocks, and he tackles. He’s a lineman. Just because he’s more athletic than you, does not mean he can’t be a linemen. There are scores of linemen who were more athletic than you. He got recognized in 2015. That’s almost a decade ago. It is too late to appeal.

I can't wait for fall practice to start. The crap that gets argued over in the summer is beyond stupid at times. We need important things to discuss, like how one bad call altered the entire course of time and space for Furman football.

They are not Offensive Linemen. Punters, Kickers, and Holders line up in the backfield on scrimmage plays. They are not Running Backs or Quarterbacks. There is no functional difference in these 2 statements. Do you approve of Kickers, Punters, and/or Holders; Specialists, who are neither Running Backs nor Quarterbacks, being named to All Conference Teams as Running Backs and/or Quarterbacks? You must answer “yes” to this question in order to have anything else to say. Long Snappers do not really block. There are a litany of rules protecting them from contact, unlike Offensive Linemen. FUBeAR was prohibited from raising a ruckus about this injustice in 2015. That doesn’t mean he has forgotten it. FUBeAR has a LONG memory.

Look at it this way, since the Samford LS got the award, now you have an excuse why your assumed deserving candidate did not win it. If another deserving lineman (as you define linemen) had won, your delusion that this Samford player stole your preferred player’s spot would be lost. At least now you can say your preferred player would have gotten it had that damn Hatcher not outwitted you again with his silver tongued horse trading.

That would be fine if FUBeAR was small-minded, as so many are here, but as FUBeAR was clear - the injustice of pretending a Long Snapper was an All SoCon Offensive Lineman was a slap in the face to all Offensive Linemen who have ever, were, are, and will ever play in the SoCon. That heinous affront cannot be assuaged with the trivialities suggested in your sarcastic comment. And Hatcher wasn’t horse trading with FUBeAR, but FUBeAR is sure someone enjoyed the Scotty McCreery backstage passes that were, almost certainly, part of the chattel exchanged in this sordid transaction.

I can't wait for fall practice to start. The crap that gets argued over in the summer is beyond stupid at times. We need important things to discuss, like how one bad call altered the entire course of time and space for Furman football. I had the EXACT same thought. We need practice and games to start. I know Cujo is a lawyer and I'm beginning to suspect FUBear is too.
