We are hosting the Alabama State Hornets on September 14th. So, once their band finishes entering the stands, where will the fans sit?

As FUBeAR recently learned that CIT's 2024 SoCon Football schedule, for some reason, is currently displaying on the Football calendar on the SoCon website, FUBeAR has decided to accept that as accurate and deduced almost all of the SoCon Teams games schedules ... including the 5 Teams, like Samford, that have not officially announced their full schedules.
So...assuming things we believe to be true are true AND that FUBeAR hasn't screwed up his deductions, this is Samford's 2024 Football Schedule...
WK# DATE OPPONENT
1 31-Aug @ West Georgia
2 7-Sep @ Florida
3 14-Sep Alabama State
4 21-Sep BYE
5 28-Sep @ Furman
6 5-Oct VMI
7 12-Oct @ ETSU
8 19-Oct Mercer
9 26-Oct @ CIT
10 2-Nov Wofford
11 9-Nov Tennessee Tech
12 16-Nov @ Chattanooga
13 23-Nov WCU

Looking at this schedule would explain why our head football coach was at last night's MBB game, sitting with the donor of the field house. Since the majority of home games will overlap with the beginning of basketball season, maybe he is hoping the success of #BuckyBall will magically transfer to the football field.

I guess this is one of those seasons where 12 games are played.

We were invited to tour the new campus recreation, wellness and athletic complex today. This will be a fantastic facility. Anticipated grand opening will be Family Weekend on 21 September 2024.
In case that date seems unusual it's because no football game is scheduled. It seems Tennessee Tech pulled out of that date, but were rescheduled for 9 November. So Family Weekend will not have to worry about a bunch of families sitting in the hot sun.

No game on Family Weekend will certainly wreck the heck out of our football season attendance number.

I think having Family Weekend on a non-football game weekend is a poor decision. I would like to know what went into making such a decision.

There is uncertainty about the future of FCS Football (and all of college football). The biggies have already started their agenda. I refer to the money games that Samford has benefitted from in the past. Those power schools have started refusing to sign contracts for future games. We have only a few short years before we see this problem manifest itself. Auburn will play us again, but after the remaining contract games we will see Georgia Southern as our "money" game. That is the best we could do and it will be just about half the amount we are used to.
