I’d take WCU by up to 7.5 on the road at Mercer.

Samford and UAB should play every year during the week between Christmas and New Year’s Day - home and home. It’s a no brainer.

Wofford did win at The Citadel, but only by 1 point. Therefore, if you took Wofford (-1.5), you lost.
Also Western 64 - 52 over Mercer. Cats covered.

Not sure about that. McNeese is legit (NET 68) and WCU took care of the Cowboys. Granted, Vanderbilt and Notre Dame are not exactly lighting it up this year, but WCU did go 2-0 against power fives. Their out of conference resume is respectable.
To me this feels like the type of game that if we could win could truly elevate the program. It's the kinda win that would validate that we are more than just beating the dog snot out of lesser programs like VMI and Alabama State. Winning on the road against WCU adds a sense of legitimacy to where we are up to this point and could potentially help our cause in seeding in March if we are fortunate enough to attain that goal. People nationally I think would begin to take a little notice of program that at 16-2 just beat another 15-2 team on the road. It would be the kind of victory that I think would prompt SU fans into perhaps reconsidering their preconceived notions for where the ceiling is this season.

But, looking at the teams you mention, none of them are in the SoCon. My comment was limited to SoCon games. Agree on what a win (on the road) could do for the program.

Some more evidence to support the fact that McNeese (14-2) is legit: Cowboys beat VCU at VCU by 11 points. They beat UAB at UAB by 21 points. They beat Michigan at Michigan by 11 points.

Western Fans are saying that we will not be able to stop their SoCon POY Vonterius Woolbright, and they may be right. I'm thinking that AJ might can slow him down anyhow. Coach Bucky has said that AJ is by far our best defensive player. At 6-6, 215 Woolbright is a nightmare to defend for sure. There is even some speculation that the NBA could be in his future. Does everybody realize that he played ball right here in B'ham? He was on the team at Lawson State CC. He made Honorable Mention AA there, but that was after he wasn't chosen for the 1st, 2nd, or 3rd AA teams. There were others in that league with that much or more plaudits. My point is that I don't recall any clamor about him being a top prospect at that time. Maybe he was schooled by the WCU staff like Achor was here. At any rate, Woolbright is a phenomenal player who can score from all areas. We will at least need to keep him from taking over the game.

He is the best player in our league...a double double guy who at 6'6" also remarkably averages over five assists a game. However, his going off doesn't necessarily mean that WCU wins, particularly if we run 'em til their cat tongues are hanging out of their mouths. Woolbright went for 25-7 in a 26 point loss to High Point and 35-14 in a loss to Garner-Webb. We can still win even if he plays well.
