Queens is a D-1 school located in Charlotte. It will be Baptist vs Presbyterians if you labeled these two schools. The game is at Samford at 4 PM today and will be streamed on ESPN+. There is a lot of optimism about this year's Bulldog Team picked to win the SoCon. In spite of Vanderbilt poaching our best player from last year and losing a couple of others, this team is supposed to be loaded. One expert even stated that Samford might make the top 25 national rankings. Hope we can live up to the hype.

I hope they are better than our softball team to this point.

Don't sell VMI short in the SoCon this year. They led the nation in stolen bases last year and it wasn't even close. Right now, LSU is seeing this VMI speed as they trail the Keydets 4-3. It's early in the game, 3rd inning, but just sayin......

The baseball team is putting on a clinic. Two freshmen get their first hits in their first at bats. Oh, and both were dingers.

College Baseball Non-Conference
Final (7) (rpi: 86) Queens 2 (rpi: 2) Samford 12
Could this be right? We are #2 in RPI?
Watched Preito’s interview. Reminded me of this:

Sample size is so incredibly small that RPI numbers are jacked up this early in the season. Today was the first day of the season for most schools.
Not to hijack the thread, but speaking of RPI, in basketball, where the sample size is quite large, our RPI is 30.

Samford looked good, but most impressive SoCon Team yesterday was VMI. They were playing the defending national champions you know. They were also facing the ace of the Bengal Tigers, Thatcher Hurd who was the winner of that NC game. He held the Florida Gators to 2 runs, 2 hits, and struck out 7 in 6 innings. VMI had 5 hits and 4 runs against him in his 2.2 innings yesterday in their 8-11 loss to the champions. They had 11 total hits to 12 for LSU and only committed 1 error compared to 2 for LSU.
The Keydets faced UCA in the nightcap and beat the Bear's ace and all conference hurler Jesse Barker 3-1.
Elsewhere: Cit beat St. Bonaventure 14-2. ETSU - 27 Lafayette - 7. Mercey Rule? There is in actuality no such thing in college baseball. It should be Mercy Option - it ain't a rule, the Lafayette Leaping Leopards obviously should have chosen the option. Western - 8 Iona - 5. Looks to be a pretty good Catamounts Team this year. Samford - 12 Grace - 2. I reckon the Royals chose their option as this was shut down in the 7th. Good start good young talent. UNCG - 10 Fairfield - 9. A 10 inning win for the Spartans. Wofford - 12 Towson - 11. Not what you would call a pitchers duel. Toledo - 5 Mercer - 4. Oops only SoCon Team without a win yesterday.
Furman - Sorry, could not find their score.
