1. I won’t be going. I thought about it, but circumstances beyond my control prevent me making an appearance. It has nothing to do with the death threats from Pegues’s mom and some of the Furman fans. I’m heading to Chile and Argentina for a little R&R.
2. WcU/Furman are almost assuredly the 4/5 seeds/game. We have a date with destiny if we get past ETSU/Cit winner. I predict ETSU (Mercer has UNCG, Furman and UTC, I think, left on their schedule—murderers row—at least ETsU has a game with Cit). It could be Mercer, but I’m hopeful it’s ETSU. I hate Mercer, but I don’t want to play them again.
3. UTC/UNCG—one gets Mercer in game one. The other gets most likely Wofford.
4. Furman/WCU in the 4/5 game. We get rid of one of the purple teams. We have to beat one or the other. Nothing is going to be easy. I will likely be pulling for WCU. Granted, it is a team of thugs, but I hate (no loath) FU more. And, I think we match up better with WCu. Nothing would make me happier than to see FU make an early exit. I don’t care if it is better for us, I want what’s bad for FU. Fu FU.
5. In the other half, it could be a clash of titans! Odds are UTC v. UNCG in what is likely to be a classic. I hope it goes to triple overtime and nobody fouls out. I want all 10 starters to get 60 minutes of full court action. I want them to feel like they have cement in their shoes against us.
Still some basketball to play, but this is how I see it, this is what I want.

*soror Not nearly nerdy enough. Apparently, you have not spent much, if any, time observing FU’s NARP community in the wild. It’s quite a spectacle. Always has been, but has increased geometrically since FUBeAR’s days in Travelers Rest. As the average SAT score approaches 1400, the NARP’s become quite, um, exotic.

Mrs77 made a promise several years ago that she would continue cooking at our church's spring youth camp until the youth minister's son was a senior. In their infinite wisdom the 3 local school systems moved spring break ahead a week and, in keeping her part of the bargain, she will be at Laguna Beach, instead of Asheville.
I didn't commit to that contract, so I will be back in the appropriate seats for the tournament this year. Common sense has returned after someone had a brain freeze last year and gave the prime 7 rows at center court, directly opposite the TV cameras, to the media. Nothing like having 140 seats occupied by 6 folks sitting behind a laptop to be the backdrop for most of the prime camera action shots. Kudos to our AD and the others who pointed out the errors of the optics created by the SoCon front office.
TLDR: I have extra tournament tickets available for all games. If interested PM me.

I wish Samford could arrange buses for the students. FU and WCU that have a mere day trip to Asheville have no idea what a pain in the rear it is to plan an entire weekend around a 6 1/2 hour road trip and hotels stays. They love to criticize our following in far off Asheville, but the whole thing is designed to favor FU and WCU and the schools close to Asheville. Hold the damn tournament in Atlanta, Chattanooga, Birmingham or Montgomery and let’s see how well the blue blood basketball schools turn out. We are in the wrong conference.

The geographic center of the SoCon (using 10 schools’ long./lat. coordinates) is 1685 E Poinsett Street Extension, Greer, SC Conveniently located nearby the Persecuted Tattoo shop - Players could add some new ink between games…if only there were also a nearby basketball arena … oh wait … The above address is only 18 miles from… Bon Secours Wellness Arena, North Academy Street, Greenville, SC. ….seems as if this is the “travel distance fairness” neutral site location you are seeking. Cool? We already have the SoCon Baseball Tournament and multiple round FCS Playoff games in Greenville. Only makes sense.

Furman runs the conference, why not. Easier trip and you don’t have to drive through the ridiculous traffic in Chattanooga. What’s up with that, by the way. It isn’t like it’s a big town, but it is always a train wreck.

Fortunately her exit gets FUBeAR off 75 before the traffic totally snarls. Think maybe it has something to do with the way 24 and 75 meet. They need to do some work cuz it’s ALWAYS a mashup.

Re soror v. frat, I said what I said and I meant what I said. Those look like the dudes at FU, in my humble opinion.

It starts downtown near the stadium on 24 and then backs up all the way to the Alabama State line. I was up there recently on a Saturday (to pick up a pup--fantastic breeder if you ever are looking for a dog) and my wife talked me into going up Friday night to avoid the traffic (she is wise). Leaving town Saturday morning (note, that's a weekend, no rush hour traffic) the traffic was backed up coming into town moving at 5 mph all the way to the 59/24 split (don't think that Mrs. Cujo did not remind me of her wisdom all the way from where state hwy 27 merges onto 24 west back to Bhm). It is just as bad going into Chattanooga from Atlanta or Knoxville.
