They just swept Bama this past weekend and are #1 in the SEC. This is only their 5th loss of the season. Strange game that saw Tony David get ejected and very strangely Catcher Lucas Steele was also tossed. These were SEC umps. Final was SAMFORD - 9 Kentucky - 7. I realize that this is only a midweek game, but we faced some of their top relievers. HUGE win for the Dogs.
I don't know if there were camera issues or what, but the video production really sucked. Watch the replay if you want to see what I'm talking about.

Sanford's 9 runs were more than Bama scored in THREE games last weekend.

The umpires were not SEC, which is part of the problem. Our "home" umpires should protect us more than the BIG SEC school. Their bat flips were out of control! The rule is you can't bat flip towards the opponent dugout and they did it twice where the bat almost went into our dugout.
Coach David and Steele should of complain! Cred's to them.
ESPN coverage was horrible because the camera behind home plate was not working. It was painful to watch.
Big win for the program!

Why did the coach and the catcher get kicked out? I heard something about “the noise” coming out of the UK dugout and the announcer say something about the coach and the catcher taking exception to UK players admiring their HRs, but I’m inferring without adequate foundation. Fine line between showing you won’t take disrespect and showing that a little disrespect can goad you into getting kicked out. Not sure it sends the right message. Better to bean the next batter or runner with a shot to the head with an errant throw, than to overtly demonstrate that you will react.

Started early with UK dugout being loud/rowdy. Then their guy battled with 2 strikes and on ball 3, he yelled “no” as the pitch was approaching and thought it was ball 4. That lead to the crowd and Samford bench making some noise of their own. On the next pitch, he did walk, had some words for SU’s dugout, and both teams were given warnings. After the half inning when UK admired their BOMB (might’ve been over the trees and took the batter nearly 10 seconds to get to first base) SU had accidentally thrown the ball away after the third out. Coach David had a chat with home plate umpire at the same time, so UK bench was fired up because they didn’t have a ball to warm up with. During that same time, Tony David came back out, with some fire to him, and pretty quickly got tossed. It’s my understanding it had something to do with the warnings/the benches talking back and forth. The next inning, they hit another moon shot, admired it (10 seconds, again) and Steele took exception and the umpire tossed him. Relatively calm after all of that

If a guy is going to bat flip and stand around and admire his yard shot like it is the Mona Lisa, then good for Steele for taking an exception.

Cool. I like controversy, but I’d have preferred a fast ball high and tight or in the ear hole of a UK player. Eye for an eye kind of thing. 😉
What did Steele do to get kicked out? Kick any dust on the umpire?

According to our announcers SEC umps were used for this game and reiterated this a couple of times. Granted they could have been mistaken, but that's what they said. Got a message from B J Millican last night after I complained on Twitter about the video. He said that the lead camera went out just before the game. Painful to watch is right. As for the game, this was a terrific win even for a midweek affair. To me, our biggest question is who can be the #3 rotation pitcher? For whatever reason Will Lynch just hasn't been able to overcome his wildness. We had some relievers who showed some good stuff last night.
