From the University's July 1 Update: LinkAthletic Events Samford plans to resume intercollegiate athletics pursuant to CDC, NCAA, and Southern Conference guidelines and applicable university policies and protocols in order to mitigate COVID-19 related risks. The NCAA has published a plan for collegiate sports which provides for phased implementation and core principles that athletic departments must consider in developing operational plans. More information will be provided as the Fall athletics season approaches. All attendees at Samford athletic events are required to wear masks and practice social distancing in accordance with CDC, NCAA, and Southern Conference guidelines and applicable University policies. All athletic venues have been properly socially distanced, and available seating options are properly marked. Uniformed ushers will be available to assist those in attendance to their seats. Season and individual game tickets to Samford athletic events will go on sale on August 1, 2020. All ticket packages and plans will be general admission, but fans will have a limited opportunity to purchase tickets in their section of choice.

If we don't shore up our defense and find stability at the QB position, social distancing in the stands shouldn't be difficult, CDC or no CDC.

That release had very little to do with athletics and much more to do with admission. Listen, I get it, the business model isn't really built to refund a third of last semester and to have a large drop in enrollment this fall. They know they have alot of parents at home really trying to decide what to do next year before sending that first payment. If they are going to adhere to social distancing in their learning environment, then your talking about a learning experience that is going to be probably two-thirds online. Cafeteria eating where take out is encouraged and dine-in eating is by appointment only. You start needing 36 square feet for every person in a building and you run out of room really quickly. I mean right now, we don't have a single player on campus, coaches are lucky to get two days a week on campus, SU is not even allowing little kid day camps to be held on campus, but I'm to believe we are going to have a football game in about 60 days? Having a "plan" to have football, and waiting until next month to sell tickets doesn't really engender a lot of confidence in that plan.
This situation is very difficult for small private schools with large percentage of on campus housing. They are charging a ton of money for an experience they are not going to be able to deliver on in the fall. I don't envy the decision makers.

You can kiss any significant university funded athletic capital expenses bye bye for quite a while now. I would think this would grind to a halt a the stadium upgrade plan unless all of that is coming from private/corporate funding, which I doubt it is.

There has never been a plan to use university funds for any athletic capital expenses.

As for the QB situation, one thing that most people forget or didn't catch, is that Oladokun was never the same after his injury vs The Citadel. I think things would have been very different had this injury not occurred. I'm not qualified to diagnose, but it looked like a high ankle sprain to me.

If your QB is going to led your team in rushing attempts, like he did last year for us, he is going to get banged up. Priority one and two has got to be fixing turnovers. You cannot run an offense that is last in the league in TOP and also last in the league in turnovers allowed.

So...you’re sayin’ that giving the ball away to the other team quickly is NOT an effective Offensive strategy?
