What does the board think of our chances of playing football this fall?

Most programs need that cash influx from attendance at games, and money games for FCS and DII schools. Even with attendance capped at 50% capacity? In our case, that could actually be more folks. We'll see how many SAs test positive on 23 July.

I'll vote yes but it may be a season unlike any we've previously seen. I am hearing some talk of moving all fall sports to the spring (not specific to any school or conference). I'm also hearing speculation regarding no fans, students only with social distancing, abbreviated schedules, and the like. Still, it wouldn't shock me in the least if the decision was to skip the season entirely...especially at schools other than Power 5.

Yes, that is how these things work. All it takes is for the first couple of dominoes to fall.
Making plans for the start of a football season doesn't mean a football season will happen.

The sooner we as a society get serious about mitigation tactics, and stop spending time trying to plan for pipe dreams such as practicing football in 3 weeks or filling dorm rooms and college campuses with kids in 6 weeks, the sooner we will get back to some sense of normalcy.

Originally, I voted yes. I am beginning to wonder if I should modify my choice to no. With rising cases, the Ivy League canceling, I think it is only a matter of time before that comes reality for the state of Alabama. Will it be an odd fall watching past season reruns? Yes. With Hatcher's record, he might be praying each night for no season.

Just not sure how you can reasonably mitigate the spread of COVID if you have football players slobbering all over each other in practice and in games? Also, there are legal considerations at play here I would think. If a kid is on scholarship and football is in place, does the kid feel obligated to participate in order to keep his scholarship even if he has serious worries about contracting this virus and perhaps spreading it to his family? I suppose you could test all staff members and players and theoretically keep them in a bubble, but that may not be realistic.

So the poll question simply asks "Will we have a football season?" I do think we are trending to moving fall sports to Spring. That's why I voted in the affirmative. If the question was really will we have a 'normal ' football season then I am inclined to say 'No'.

Just saw that Big 10 is expected to play a Conference Only Schedule this fall. Not officially announced yet.
