As I understand the transition, JSU will be eligible for all conference championships in the ASUN, with the exception of football. I do not how many football scholarships we will have in 2022, but we will be ineligible for the FCS playoffs. Hypothetically if we won the ASUN football championship in ‘22, the second place finisher would get the AQ spot. Obviously, this situation is new to me, and I’m using some (faulty?) reasoning here. If you know of another scenario, please let me know. FC

They talked a lot about buying their own Championship Rings anyway, but that became a moot point. GaSou went 7-4/4-4 and Appy went 4-8/4-4…tying for 3rd from the bottom of the SoCon. They both tried to sell that they weren’t trying, they redshirted all of their good players, and other such nonsense. Truth is that they both sucked. So, as a JSU fan, might not want to expect a good record next year accompanied by a litany of noble-sounding excuses. But…sitting at 3-5/1-2 now, seems as if y’all will be used to that.

Jax State beats Abilene Christian 40-25 at home. After the game, HFC John Grass announces his retirement, effective immediately. Assistant coach Max Thurmond was named interim HC for the remaining two road games (Lamar and Eastern Kentucky).

The Southland bought some loyalty from McNeese apparently. McNeese is staying, and coincidentally will now host the Southland Conference Men's and Women's Basketball, baseball and softball tournaments from 2023-26.

Former TAAC member Centenary is planning to start football in 2022. I would not be surprised if they wound up in the Southland in the next few years.

University of Texas-Rio Grande Valley State is also starting up a program to play at the FCS level.
Schools like JMU and Sam Houston leave the FCS and schools like UTRGV and possibly Centenary move in from the bottom.
