I wouldn’t say anyone is hating on anyone, but “cynical” might be appropriate. Hatcher because he’s had his chance and he’s proven decidedly mediocre (and a snake oil salesman of sorts to boot). Bucky because of the lipstick they put on his hire (the third in a line of 2 preceding dismal failures) and the predicable disappointing first year that he even calls his year “zero” (it don’t count, right, right, y’all agree with me, right?). The spinmeister is showing signs of spinning the meister early. The jury is still out, but he’s no coach Karle who just does what she does (win) with no bull or Todd Yelton who takes humble and graciousness to a fault, while beating the hell out of you. Cynical and jaded might be a better way of describing the mood of this board.

Interior(Post) defense will be an issue IMO. I'm afraid this will be true even when Logan returns.

The key will be if we can manage to keep as much of them together as possible. If it's a revolving door of talent then that will get old quick.

If you want to keep them together, don’t recruit jr and sr transfers. I like to win quick and now, but anyone willing to leave the first places is willing to leave for greener pastures. A lot of fatal flaws in what Bucky wants and what Bucky does. And if Bucky is listening to Martin, heaven help us. He’s the architect for the trouble we are in in the first place. Whatever Martin says to do, do the exact opposite. Martin has wanted a run and gone “entertaining” style since he arrived. We have been trying to shove that square peg into a round hole for over a decade only to reluctantly fall back into a half court game by year 3 of the coach’s contract.

"Hey, Dad, are we there yet?"

Bucky said right after he was hired that he was going to build from the ground up with young kids and that this would not be a quick rebuild. I was pleased to hear that. Then he goes out and signs a near roster full of transfers. He lost a lot of ground with me on that one.
Then of course we still can't defend. You won't win many games if you cannot defend regardless of how good your offense is. This is a near universal truth. We know this from what we have seen in football and we know this because we have seen it with basketball.

Most of the transfers last night (that played) were sophomores from what I saw on the court. Our big guy, who's a senior being the notable exception.

Reboul did the Chalk Talk last night, really heavy on the talk, but again emphasized the "build from the ground up ... and this would not be a quick rebuild." He even set the boosters up for the possiblity last night of an upset. Coach thanked the supporters and then talked about having ~20 players on the roster, the two injuries, and a little bit about Maryville. BTW, it took half the page of the program to list all of our coaches and support staff. Hopefully, we will see improvement and will keep building from the ground up. We don't need to dig the hole any deeper.

Surprising that Reboul would even mention the possibility to boosters, of all people, that an upset was possible. That does not instill confidence in the process if they are bracing ardent supporters of potentially losing to a bad Division III school. Maryville went 8-12 last year, went 5-22 two seasons ago, and 9-18 the year before that. They've had only one winning season in the past nine years and they have 11 underclassmen on their current roster. And an assistant wants to mention the possibility of a loss to these guys? Geez, c'mon. If the coaching staff was really concerned about Maryville (Bucky said this was a good team, by the way), then this program is a lot further behind that I thought it was. Then again we only won by 22. We should have won by twice that.
