Dye isn't healthy, Glover isn't healthy, and quite frankly nobody cares. If the NIT comes calling (which they won't), we should accept. Otherwise, we need to say thanks, but no thanks.

As described in Wikipedia: The College Basketball Invitational (CBI) is a men's college basketball tournament created in 2007 by The Gazelle Group. The inaugural tournament occurred after the conclusion of the 2007–08 men's college basketball regular season. The CBI selects 16 teams that are not selected for the NCAA Tournament or the National Invitation Tournament (NIT), and who are willing to pay a $27,500 entry fee to participate. In the CBI, prior to 2020 teams competed on home courts. After the post-COVID pandemic revival, the tournament has been staged at the Ocean Center in Daytona Beach, Florida. The CBI is a single-elimination tournament. Prior to 2020, the tournament was single elimination until the final two teams were determined, after which the championship was determined by a championship series with a best-two-out-of-three format. Since the tournament's 2021 revival and adoption of the single-site format, the championship is also determined by a single game. In 2023, the CBI introduced NIL funding of $40,000 to be distributed in the following manner: $25,000 to the Champion, $10,000 to the Runner-Up, and $2,500 to each Semifinalist. So, if you win, you don’t even get all your money back? Does the school have to pay their own travel, hotels and feed its players, coaches and staff? That could run six figures!

That answer appears to be yes. The current question is whether Detroit Mercy (14-19) will get an invitation so their player Antoine Davis will have an opportunity to break Pete Maravich's NCAA scoring record. Hey, it's Spring Break in Daytona Beach. What could possibly go wrong.

For me, it comes down to the buy in level from the kids. If they want to dedicate their time to preparing to have an opportunity to put on a good showing, let's do it. If not, let's not.

Just an fyi. They won’t be doing the CBI tourney. Half the team is doing spring break in Florida. I think the season is over. Lots of the guys are suffering injuries. Even players you don’t know about are suffering some injuries. So my best guess with my insider info. Season is done

Even if we had beaten UTC, I didn’t think we were healthy enough to win two more games. Continuing to play now in a meaningless tournament would be silly. Can anyone name the winner of the CBI the last 5 years without looking it up? For that matter, what about the NIT? I got nothing for either, but I can’t even remember who won the NCAA tournament this past year, so . . . I don’t count.

And with that we now sit back and watch to see if we come out ahead or behind in the portal.

Wouldn't blame them in the least bit, regardless of injury situation. Basketball is a really long season, especially given the trip/practice before with the Dominican trip this past summer.

I didn't realize it still existed. I'd much rather the team get a break and the university save the $$$. Start planning for next season instead of wasting money and effort on meaningless games.

Aaaaaand the answer is, No. Samford isn’t getting an invite, didn’t get an invite, after Tenn S. wasn’t going to get on invite unless they were the #1 seed in the SoCon tournament. Whoever in the basketball program it was telling fans that we were in was intoxicated. We had a weak non conference schedule and disappointing results. We lost in the first round of the SoCon tournament. If you didn’t read the handwriting on the wall, you may be too close to the program to be objective.
