I was at that game and remember that event well. That incident happened at their on campus facility, which is about the size of Seibert.

Are you sure smurf? According to Jeff Hartsell's article in the Charleston Post & Herald it was at the Greensboro Coliseum. He gave the date as Jan. 23rd, 2010.

That was in the 90s during Smurf’s hippy days. There is a lot of that decade he just doesn’t remember, but he’s sure he had a good time.

Smurf could be right, as Hartsell's article was a "looking back" piece updated 2016. First I misspelled Hartsell's name and now I realize I said Post and Herald, and everybody knows it's the Post & Courier. I think I'm already nervous about tonight. Cujo has seen an example of my nervousness as we watched a Tillette Coached Playoff game in the old Samford Student Center. I wonder if he recalls that?

The damn video went black just as Mario took the shot heard around the world. I thought SUD was going to have a heart attack. I was very worried about being obligated to give him mouth to mouth resuscitation. I was ok the the chest compression, but . . . I would have done it to save my dear friend, but I wouldn’t have liked it. That’s brotherly love for you. Anyway,UCF and GSU were worthy and bitter rivals. And we came out on top when it mattered most. Good times.

Where things stand tonight:
Samford 10-1 UNCG 8-3 UTC 8-3 Western Carolina 6-5 Wofford 6-5 Furman 6-5 ETSU 5-6 Mercer 4-7 VMI 1-10 The Citadel 1-10
You don’t want to be a Debby downer, but this has first round loss in the tournament written all over it. I’m such a Samford fan, love my Bulldogs and waiting for the disappointment.

There is an old adage that is hard to beat a team three times in a season. We've twice beaten UNCG and UTC. To our benefit though is that unless things go awry, it looks like we'll be sitting on the number one seed in Asheville.

This team has defied the expectations all season. Remember when we laughed about the prediction that we’d win every single game remaining on the season? I do. We have lost one game (when our team reportedly had the flu). That prediction is looking to be brilliant at this point. Brilliant, I say.
We keep waiting for the upset, the choke, the let down . . . Because we are Samford fans. I’ve got AFS (abused fan syndrome). It is what we have experienced for no less than a quarter of a century and a quarter of a century before that.
