Not that it matters much but I’m hearing Zach Loveday to the portal also

There are two likely open starting spots, although I liked Achor and Allensbach on the floor together in the 2d half of the Kansas game. Speaking of that, do you think there is a chance that last season’s 3 freshmen and Achor would be the heir apparents to start with one open spot next year, or is it taboo to play Achor and Allensbach at the same time?

I think Holloway will start, but he has to improve on his 27 3FG%, his 39% FG%, and his decision making. If Allenspach takes a step forward in his development, it is going to be difficult for him not to see starter type minutes. Walls was sneaky good from behind the arc this past season and he was effective in the low post with mismatches. Is he too much of a tweener though? Is he quick enough to defend the perimeter against quick wings? Is he strong enough to defend down low against good sized forwards?
Picking up shooters in the portal who can also defend will be key in determining if we take a step back or a step forward next season. Campbell shot 47% from deep; Staton-McCray was a 41% shooter from three. Staton-McCray was also our best perimeter defender and our best player at creating his own shot. Between those two guys, there is a lot of skills that will have to be replaced. Derrin Boyd is a 6'3, 210 lb guard from Lipscomb who is in the portal and he will or already has been on campus for a visit. He has an impressive step back three in his arsenal and is very effective in scoring in transition. He shot 44% from deep and averaged 17.6 ppg at Lipscomb. He could be a real asset for us I think.

Do we have any freshman coming in that can help? That would be huge to get some minutes from a freshman

We signed Zion Wilburn, a 6'5" guard from California and Caleb Harrison, a 6'9" forward from Huntsville. Wilburn was a pretty good pick up, but I don't know that he will be a major contributor right away.

A. J. Staton-McCray is visiting Duquesne. Hope he gets a good pay check. Wonder how his game will translate out of Bucky ball

Boyd opts for Charleston. Must have gotten the old commit before you leave without taking other visits, NIL bonus. Good player.
