So close and it shouldn't have been. Great to win, but we need to play better than this. Shot selection can certainly be better.

Twenty nine days ago we were 11-8 and 1-6 in the league. Now we are 19-9 and 9-7. For a program that historically folded in February, this has been an incredible late season surge.

If Jayden Campbell has his usual shooting night, we win going away. He had plenty of good open looks that typically fall for him.

It's also our third game in five days and we will now be short a man going forward. That makes this stretch all the more impressive, but we have to turn around and play again in 48 against a Furman team that will come in with a few more days rest. FU has lost three of their last five though and of course we have them at home.

Can we split the last two games?
How is Citadel so low in the rankings? They are as good as any team in the conference on any given night. They should be at least .500.

Citadel beat ACC Pitt by 15 in Pittsburgh back in November and yet here we are in February those Bulldogs are 5-11 in the SoCon. This league is good not necessarily because it is top heavy (unfortunately we are still a one bid league) but because of its balance.

You can slice it statistically however you want I suppose. He was also second on the team in turnovers and a 28% shooter from three as a starting wing. I am not suggesting he did not bring value, but I have to think that if he was playing up to his or Bucky's expectation (unless he is no longer with the team because of off the court issues) he would still be a Bulldog. Part of being a four star recruit is having four start expectation. He brought value, but I think most SU folks would say that he underperformed relative to his potential. A rumor after the game was that #1 wanted to be a PG, but the HC had other ideas. So #1 quit.

Cardet is no longer listed on the website roster.
If he did leave on his own, it is telling that he would bolt from a team that has won eight of their last nine.

I could tell in his last game that he was frustrated by the way he tried to do everything by himself. It was apparent something was wrong. He was throwing the college basketball equivalent of a tantrum, which Coach Bucky rewarded by limiting is PT. I didn't expect him to quit after the game, but I did not expect to see him in a Samford Uniform next year. He was checked out and going his own way in his own way. When everyone tells you how great you are and things come easy to you, sometimes getting to the next level where everyone is good or even better than you and the coaching is even more intense, sometimes good players can't stop thinking about "me." A self-centered view of the world--many a good player has gone on a journey of self-discovery, bouncing from school to school playing by their own rules and eventually ending up in Nowheresville being nothing. What was the name of the guy who played here last year who was really good, on like his 4th school in as many years, and a real jerk who quit midseason? He's hardly even an after thought and his name is lost to me now. A self-centered world and in reality he doesn't even know he's insignificant.
As the great philosopher Bob Dylan once said: "you are going to have to serve someone." Put your life in perspective and it will go well with you. Cujo.
